The SAG Red Carpet is Ready for Valentine's Day!

Red and white were the colors of the night at the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards last night. Maybe it was Valentine's Day knocking at our doors, maybe the red carpet was a literal inspiration, or maybe the rainy day brought the hopes of summer out in everyone. The celebrities are doing so well this award show season, it is getting hard for me to pick my favorites, but I narrowed it down, with a few surprises along the way.

My ladies in red: Tina Fey and Mila Kunis

Summer's white wishers: Winona Ryder and Natalie Portman

Golden Globe Winners

Sunday night, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association hosted the 68th annual Golden Globe awards. The coveted statues were awarded to top performances in television and film, and Robert DeNiro was awarded for life time achievement. The biggest critics had their work cut out for them before the stars even made it in the front door. The red carpet is the stage for fashion best and worst dressed columns around the world, and for the most part, celebrities this year did it right. The palest of pale neutrals, intricate clutches, and sparkle, sparkle, sparkle were among the most adored trends.

My only true disappointment of the evening was Sandra Bullock. Perhaps the dress would have really shined with her hair pulled up, but she was entirely too covered, and her bangs made her look unhappy.

Among my favorites was Meghan Fox, whose pale pink woven corset top blew me away. Emma Stone also made a lasting impression in one of her first appearences as a blonde. Her peach simplistic column dress flattered her fabulous curves and the back gave it just enough sex appeal.

Another starlet that caught my eye was Haillee Steinfeld. Only fourteen years old, Haillee embodied grace and poise, while not trying to look too much older or too sexy. Her accessories were fun and her style was perfect for her age.

Some other favorites were: Eva Longoria, Mila Kunis, Leighton Meester, and Olivia Wilde.

Resolutions

I have never personally been a big fan of New Years resolutions. I have always been of the mind set that if you want to make a change, start when you first realize you should. This goes for quitting smoking, weight loss, a change in lifestyle, etc. I read an article in the Los Angeles Times Magazine this weekend that mirrored my thoughts, but added a great idea for a resolution, for those who want one. Stop buying "comfort clothes." Essentially, this means stop buying the articles of clothing that already reside in your closet. I.E. A common one, jeans. The writer also referenced her grey cashmere sweaters.

In life, we tend to stick with what we know, and it can make us feel stagnant sometimes. If you are like me, you are bored with your closet almost everyday you get dressed. I cannot even tell you how many times I have said that in the past week. So try new things. Give the trends of springs a shot (leopard, neon, crochet, nautical) even if it is just a touch with an accessory, a shoe, or a layered piece. Resolute to yourself to not buy anymore [insert your comfort clothing here]. Honeysuckle pink, the color of the new year, is out in full force. Pop some in your wardrobe for an mood elevator.

All above from Forever 21

As for resolutions, I am part taking in at least the thought of positive change. Stolen from a friend: "Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you will start having positive results." I need a bit more of that in my life, so I am adopting the no comfort clothing policy, finding a new job, working out more, writing more, and overall just being more adventurous. What are your resolutions?
